Bilingual Common Core Initiative

In an effort to ensure that all New York State students, including ELLs, receive the highest level of academic achievement and language proficiency, the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Bilingual Education and Foreign Language Studies (OBE-FLS)  has launched three major initiatives to support bilingual student engagement and achievement: Engage NY, the Bilingual Common Core Initiative, and CUNY-NYSIEB, a collaborative initiative between City University of New York and the New York State Education Department to support emergent bilinguals.
